International Student Advisor.

Our client, a university based in London is looking for an Advisor to provide information, guidance, and specialist immigration advice to applicants and students.  This is a 2-month temp role with the possibility of going permanent and is to start ASAP.

The main duties of the International Student Advisor role are:

  • Providing confidential and professional immigration advice to students, applicants, recent graduates
  • Delivering immigration advice which is fully OISC accountable
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Creating engaging digital content for international students
  • Organise, deliver, and promote specialist workshops for groups of students
  • Advocating for the needs of international students across the organisation
  • Providing welfare and pastoral support to international students
  • Providing practical assistance with everyday matters such as opening bank accounts, obtaining a national insurance number, and access to healthcare
  • Responding to queries from students and staff in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintaining a personal schedule of appointments
  • Advising students with police registration requirements
  • Supporting faculty and university welcome and induction activities
  • Working in close collaboration with University Teams and Student Centre, liaising and advocating
  • Working on a significant caseload of around 20-30 at any one time
  • Team is in transition with changes in work methods planned

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive immigration advice experience
  • OICS accreditation helpful but not essential
  • Confident with preparing and participating in workshops
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both proactively/individually and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written with ability to communicate at all levels
  • High degree of accuracy and ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Maintain a personal caseload, ensuring that any deadlines are monitored
  • Advanced in the use of Microsoft Office packages including Microsoft Teams
